I searched for my first leather jacket for a few years. The ones I found that fit me well and I liked everything about them were so far outside of my budget, I couldn’t even consider them. And the ones I found within my budget just weren’t right for one reason or another. Leather jackets have a lot of character, depending on the cut, the hardware, the pockets, and the type of leather. Because of that, you have to find the one that works right for you. This tan leather jacket was a gift from my husband when I graduated with my PhD. Three years later (almost four!), I still tell him how great of a job he did picking it out. Truth be told, my tan leather jacket gets more use than just about anything else in my closet. Since I’m big on investing in key pieces, I’m also big on maximizing the different ways I can wear an article of clothing (because I want it to be worth the investment). So I wanted to share just how versatile this jacket is – especially with spring on the way. I also found a few tan leather jackets that look very similar at a few different price points – no, a new leather (or “leather”) jacket doesn’t have to break the bank!
The thing I love most about every tan leather jacket outfit is that the jacket is somehow a perfect combination of edgy and chic. I love throwing it on over button up tops (black, white, and flannel – it makes no difference). It’s also my go-to over dresses when I want to avoid a ‘cutesy’ look that a cardigan seems to give. I wear it with heels, flats, and boots. Truthfully, it feels as though every outfit could be a tan leather jacket outfit.
