I’m sorry to say it, but the time has come. It’s the last post of the year and you know what that means… some favorite memories, some hopes for the year ahead, and of course chicly fabulous wishes for a Happy New Year to you all. This may all be run of the mill, but it doesn’t mean I don’t mean every single word. And, honestly, doesn’t everyone love a little walk down memory lane?? So, grab your coats and cute walking shoes, and let’s get on our way…
2017 was full of many new adventures. Nothing tops our trip to southern Africa of course. I still believe that going on safari is a unique life experience that I hope everyone can enjoy. Driving through wildlife and such serene beauty is an experience which nothing else in my lifetime has ever come close. Giraffes sipping my champagne, facing off with a hippo, and fearing the charge of a mother elephant brought me so much happiness and stress respectively, I can’t even begin to explain. I can only hope my photos can do it justice. Of course, trips to Canada, upstate New York, and this cute Bavarian town in Eastern Washington will go down in the books as well.
2017 Professional Adventures
It wasn’t all travel, travel, travel, however. This year I taught at FIDM, continuing to learn more about social media, learning more about the lives of 20 year olds, and realizing how much I really do love teaching them. My husband and I rocked our second year of marriage and are happily onto year three (yay!). I mentioned that year one had its difficult times, so this last year was pretty freakin’ amazing! I also spent a lot of time with my mom and a bit more time brunching and scheming with friends in LA and everywhere else!
My Most Proud Moment
Crazy enough, however, of all the adventures and exciting things that have kept me on-the-go nonstop, the real highlight of my year came from sharing the post about the first year after losing my dad. I never doubted the need to share the post, but I had no idea how many people would read it and how much they needed it. I’m boggled that strangers read my words and then reach out to me for guidance. I pray that I give them words of solace each time I reply, but you never know.
It’s crazy to think how one post on my blog can connect me with so many people all around the world. Because of these connections that I’m thinking of sharing more about life in my 30s in LA as a wife, daughter, and woman trying to do all she can do. It’s not easy task and it seems we all need to be bonding and supporting one another as much as possible if we are going to succeed.
A Year in Review
Looking back at 2017, I don’t know that I reached any milestones or concisely achieved any major goals, but it was a good year and I think (time will tell) that I worked my tail off for more goodness to come in the next year. Whether it’s work on LM, efforts to be a better wife, a better daughter, and a better friend, I think I’ve learned some lessons and am hoping to take them into 2018 with gusto! I have no idea what next year will hold, but I’m starting the year on a high, hoping to inspire some sort of positivity in my circles.
With all that in mind, I’m happily ready to seal the envelope on 2017 and usher in a new year of adventure with all of you! I’ll be back blogging the second week of January. In the meantime, I’ll be on Instagram (I hope you’ll follow along and say hello!), sharing our upcoming travel and enjoying some fresh mountain air!!
