Recently, I was getting a little overwhelmed. With so much travel recently (which I love), it’s felt like all my time at home is split between catching up from being gone and then getting ahead for another trip. I was telling my mom I couldn’t wait for our Eastern Sierras getaway, but I just didn’t think I should be so run down. Each day felt like a chore. She asked why I didn’t feel I deserved a vacation. I responded that I loved everything I was doing, so why should I need a break! I think she covered up her giggle and then warmly reminded me that we all need mental and physical breaks from life, no matter what our day-to-day holds. I wasn’t sure I believed her, but I’m always one to take her advice. So in addition to laundry, cleaning, and some work, I added relaxing weekend morning to my Saturday to do list! It wasn’t fancy. I sat on our new couch (I’m totally obsessed) with my coffee, a morsel, and the latest issues of Sunset magazine, which I’m embarrassingly behind in reading. It’s so funny. Catching up on magazines and reading feels like an obligation yet I don’t add it to my ‘chore’ list and, really, I should. Since I needed the friendly reminder to plan a relaxing weekend morning on the couch, I figured you all needed one as well! So, under the orders of this Dr (that might never get old), I recommend taking even just 45 minutes to do something you love for yourself. You can go to your favorite coffee shop and read there or, if it isn’t sweltering hot where you are, a morning in the park!
And if you need some book recommendations, I’ve loved reading these three books lately. I just bought a few more as well, so I’ll keep you updated on those. I’m considering adding a “recommended reading” to my site’s shop. Let me know if that would be of interest!
