I determine a lot by food, including potential friendships. I like people who enjoy food. I don’t mean gorging out on the latest food trends (not really my thing), but people who enjoy coming together over a delicious homemade meal or a meal out. It doesn’t have to be fancy (though that’s welcome), but there’s an experience associated with enjoying delicious flavors. Somewhere between eating to live and living to eat! Since I tend to attract food lovers like myself, a DIY Food Lover Gift Basket seemed just right for all the amazing ladies in my life…
IZZE is celebrating National Friendship Day (August 6) and they asked me to make a gift basket for my best friends. Some DIY baskets are stunning but over the top, so I wanted mine to be simple to put together and easy for my friends to appreciate – not feeling bombarded by the effort that went into it. In addition to the vibrant and delicious IZZE Sparkling Juice Clementine , I’m including crackers, a delicious mustard, a small cutting board, and chocolate. I figure we can get the meat, cheese, and/or fruit easily to complete the setup. And to leave her after I’m gone – a tasty looking magazine and one of my favorite dish soaps and rag to handle the dishes! Ok – I’ll probably stay to help with the few dishes we’ll have!
My obsession with sunflowers has been renewed. I’ve always liked them, but I rewatched Calendar Girls with my mom recently. Have you seen it? While it may be directed toward older women, I think the same issues and self-doubt they have relates to women of all ages. And their decision to expose themselves (including their imperfections) should inspire us to do the same. I love the friendship between Chris and Annie who always love one another but have the conviction to call each other out when necessary. In the movie, the sunflower is featured in each of their photos and carries the story. So I’m in love with them all over again and thought they’d be perfect in this setup!
Happy Best Friend’s Day! Don’t forget to send your bestie a little hello this weekend!!
Thank you to IZZE for sponsoring this post.
