Black & Blue Work Outfit
Growing up I vehemently explained to my mother (on multiple occasions) that you just couldn’t wear navy blue and black together. Insert that eye roll here. What can I say? I was an opinionated, self-assured kid growing up. A kid who, let’s face it, had basically no fashion-sense! Anyway, I’m not the only one unsure about color matching even as an adult. So, do black and navy blue match? I now say, vehemently mind you, YES!!! It’s often hard to tell the two colors apart, which makes them pair seamlessly in any ensemble, including this black and blue work outfit. These Current/Elliott jeans (more below) are actually a very dark blue and I LOVE the slight contrast in color between them and my black shoes and coat. If I can wear a black coat with navy blue pants, then you can absolutely wear a blue coat with black pants!
Uneven Hem Jeans Trend
I’ve been battling the uneven hem trend for the last few years. Many of the uneven, raw cut hems just scream fraying the first day you wear them and too much distress just looks tacky, I think. I’ve been looking for jeans that have the uneven hem but that aren’t so drastic. I recently found these dark blue skinny jeans by Current/Elliott and I totally love the cut. It curves up in the front (a tulip hem almost) and is straight across on the back. I like this cut for two reasons. One, the curve cut on the front is great for heels and adds a bit of character to the jeans without being distracting. Also, if the uneven hem jeans trend does go away in a few seasons, I can easily cut these for a straight hem that will always be in style!
