Striped Blazer Outfit
You may have noticed, I’ve been wearing this striped shirt a lot recently. The company gifted it to me a couple of years ago. At the time, I thought it was soft and fit nicely, but I didn’t become enamored with it. This past season, however, it’s been my go-to – the first thing I grab after laundry day and the shirt that I’m constantly searching for in my closet. It’s a great, loose fit and it’s so soft. The color is called ivory on their site, but my shirt is definitely white and navy! I can’t recommend it enough! I’ve paired it with my embroidered leather jacket and recently wore it in this striped blazer outfit. I love the layering of stripes in a way that’s subtle but perfectly matching!
Why I Buy Clothes that are Too Big!
I’ve had this jacket longer than I’ve been blogging and I don’t wear it very often. I think my mom handed it down to me and at the moment it’s about 4 sizes too big. It’s such a great piece, however, that I’ve never let it go. Here’s the thing. Growing up, I always bought very tight-fitting clothing – not inappropriately so but not baggy. It’s hard to make baggy clothing look put-together. As I started losing weight in grad school, my whole wardrobe got loose and it took a few years before I’d completely replaced my closet to fit my new shape. During that time, I finally wore loose clothes for the first time and loved how comfortable it was. Granted, it wasn’t a fashion decision, just a reality of my life and wardrobe. In the last few years, I’ve slowly gotten my closet back to being mostly snug-fitting items and I don’t think it’s the best idea. Recently, I’ve started intentionally sizing up on a few things. Slightly oversized outerwear like sweaters and jackets and even tanks and tops have been a welcome addition to my sartorial life. Since we’re all in the struggle to get comfort and style, it’s all about balance per usual. In this striped blazer outfit, I paired denim and a top that a more form-fitting with my oversized coat. And to really balance it out, I opted for classic loafers!
