I’ve always joked that I have a knack for finding items not on sale. That isn’t totally true. I can find a good bargain on occasion, but I’m attracted to well-made, classic styles that will last me forever! Really, I’m just lazy about finding and figuring out new pieces all the time. Anyway, my parents gave me my Prada tote when I graduated with my PhD 5 years ago (wow!). I knew the bag was going to be of impeccable quality, but when it arrived, my mom and I gawked at the details of the purse.
The lining has “Prada” embroidery. The zippers are of such great quality, I think they’re indestructible (though I hope I never find out for sure). And the thing that really wowed us was that “Prada” was engraved not only into the zipper pulls but each of the feet on the bottom of the bag. Top to bottom, inside and out, every detail was thought out.
I bring this up because my mom and I went searching for a tweed jacket in Edinburgh. We looked through quite a few shops to see what styles were available and if this would be a good thing to bring home. We were moderately pleased, but when we walked into Holland Cooper, we had that wow moment again…
Holland Cooper Review
In a similar way to my tote, it seemed the details of the jacket had been meticulously thought out. As you can see in the photo above, the tweed comes together seamlessly at the seams, meaning there’s no break in the pattern when the circle of material is closed. The zipper is also government-quality (a random reference to an Ellen Degeneres joke!). I think it’s going to be indestructible as well. And more importantly, it shouldn’t snag the tweed on any zips up or down. And then there’s those buttons. I’m such a sucker for good hardware. I love stylish zippers, statement buttons, and sturdy studs. It’s the quality of detail here that make any brown tweed jacket outfit I contrive look impeccable – even if it’s with a tank and jeans!!
Current/Elliott Muscle Tank Review
Speaking of the tank. At last year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I picked out this grey tank with feathers and then proceeded to wear it an embarrassing number of days each week. And I wore it every week until it was no longer tank top weather. I loved the top so much, I’ve been waiting to find them on sale to buy them in, well, every color available.
Lo and behold, a month or so ago, the white version was on sale and I snagged it up. I’ve since been wearing it too many days each week and summer hasn’t even really started. The muscle tank is longer than every other tank I own – in fact, I may put it in the dryer to shrink it a bit. It’s not form fitting at all, yet it’s somehow so flattering. Anyway, I’m keeping my eyes open to snag it up in black, navy, and a light pink at the very least. And just to put a huge stamp of approval on it as well, my mom wants to find some for summer too!
