You know how things in life aren’t always as you expect? I know we all do; it’s really what defines life, isn’t it? Anyway, I ordered a few items from my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale picks, including this blazer, this bomber jacket, and these AGL Mules. I wasn’t worried about the jackets at all, but these mules – I wasn’t sure if they’d fit right. Of course I was wrong. The blazer fit but was tighter than I wanted, so I sent it back for the next size up. The bomber jacket fit but had no shape and just didn’t do a darn thing for me. And the mules fit perfectly and were comfortable right out of the box – zero muss and no fuss! Needless to say, it took me all of two days to rock my first black mules outfit (with another one the following day)…
Black Mules Outfit
Mules (flat and heeled, open-toed and closed) have been popular for a few years now. I got the peep toe mules I wore in that navy gingham dress outfit last spring and loved them so much, I knew another pair was bound to be in my future, but it wasn’t at the top of my list. Then this AGL pair popped up in the anniversary sale and I added them to my cart. It’s been a while since I’ve owned a pair of AGL shoes, but I remember them being super comfortable and elegantly made. I’m happy to say nothing has changed and this black mules outfit looks somehow a bit more put together than with regular flats. I ended up wearing them again the day after we snapped these photos with a black mani shirt dress and like how they jazzed up the super casual look and still kept me happily comfortable.
What to Wear with Split Back Shirts
As you can see in a few photos down, this tank has a split back with overlapping layers. I love the sly detail of this top, but I certainly don’t want to show lots of skin. In the same way I love high-waisted jeans with cropped tops to hide my tummy, they work just as well with split back shirts to provide a bit more coverage!
