I posted on Instagram last week that I was ready for fall fashion and asked who was with me. Almost everybody said that they weren’t with me at all. Alas while I’m wearing jeans as often as my sanity permits in the heat and scheming ways to wear my new blazer, the weather isn’t ready for fall either, so I’m trying to embrace summer fashion while I can. Since I’m not big on shorts, dresses it is. Luckily this off the shoulder dress was a super fun find this summer. I wore it here for a more whimsical (for me) look with my oversized hat and flats, but recently I dressed up my casual midi dress outfit with a favorite pair of heels and a low pony tail.
Here’s the thing about summer fashion and shorts. I’ve never loved my legs. Between junior high and grad school, it was a policy of mine not to wear shorts outside of my house. When I lost weight, I slowly started wearing shorts out more, but I never really loved it. And, now, I’m loving it less and less. I don’t know if it’s a body shame thing or just more of a comfortability thing. I don’t have to shave as much, worry about tanning lotions, or share my random bruises (darn you couch corner) and imperfections with the world if I’m in my jeans…
Casual Midi Dress Outfit
So back to the midi dress situation. This dress can be worn off the shoulders, with the sleeves pulled up (like I have it here), or with a halter strap around my neck. I love the versatility of the piece and how you can change your look depending on your needs. It would be a great dress for travel since you can make it look different almost every day. And I’m always a sucker for stripes.
