We’ve lived in LA for almost 5 years, which is so unbelievable to me. While I will forever be a northern California girl (a fact which living in LA has reinforced), LA certainly has some amazing things going on! The list varies from person to person dependent on who you are but also where you live. Life in West LA is different from life in Pasadena, the San Fernando Valley, and Manhattan Beach (not to mention all the areas in between). But LA does one have huge thing going for it, in my very humble opinion – the opening up (and staying open) of coffee shops. It feels as though I get wind of a new coffee shop almost every week. The best part about all these coffee shops, however, is that they stay open. Restaurants in LA notoriously close their doors after just a few years. The trends have changed, the rents have risen, and/or the chefs have moved on. For whatever reason, this fact of LA life doesn’t affect cafes. And this California girl couldn’t be more grateful!

Casual Plaid Jacket Outfit
You all know I’m itching for the temperatures to fall (even just highs in the 70s would be great). On a recent visit to The Rose Cafe (a new spot for me in Venice), I rocked this incredibly casual plaid jacket outfit. Obviously it wasn’t cool enough to wear my blazer properly, but I loved having it on just the same. And how casual did I take the historically stuffy elbow-patch, plaid blazer? A tie-front crop top and my birkenstock sandals. Short of rolling up in my workout pants, I took it to the max in comfort!
