If you’ve googled “how to get more followers and likes on Instagram,” this post is for you. If you’ve complained to friends, family, and your significant other (sorry, my love!) about being frustrated about Instagram numbers, this one’s for you. If you’ve spent any time worrying about your account, the numbers, and the aesthetic, then THIS POST IS FOR YOU!
In the social media world, I talk to a number of men and women about their online business and the number one complaint I’ve been hearing for a while is that the latest Instagram algorithm has frustrated us all – myself 100% included. We’re doing all the things we’re supposed. We’re trying posting at different times of day with all the hashtags. We’re in groups to engage with each other’s content. And we’ve periodically considered selling our souls to the highest bidder to figure out this damn thing. We’ve cried. We’ve yelled. We’ve pushed ourselves farther than humanly possible. And, no, this isn’t limited to those of you with 200 followers, 2000 followers, or even 100,000+ followers – it’s everyone!
I’m here to say you have to stop worrying about your Instagram numbers. It seems that even with trying our best and following all the advice we hear, we’re still driving ourselves crazy and we have to stop. IT ISN’T HELPING your numbers to worry about it and it isn’t doing you any good. If you’re trying your best, then you’re doing everything you need to do – you can’t make magic happen, so stop wasting your valuable time and energy. Continue posting, but only what feels right in terms of content and frequency. Continue engaging because saying hi never hurt anyone. But beyond that, don’t do anything that doesn’t feel right or sound fun!
How do I Stop Worrying about Instagram Numbers?
Ok. So this is all easier said than done, I GET THAT! My advice for worrying less about Instagram numbers is to move your energies elsewhere. In the case of blogging, I recommend doing one or all of the following – update old content, try to post once more per week, work on your SEO, or (and this one is really what I’d recommend) work on your Pinterest game. The fact is we spend so much energy on Instagram, it makes sense that we can’t stop obsessing over it. All those other things, however, are much more in your control as to the work put in and the return. Let’s start fretting about something we have some control over, shall we?
If you’re ready to get on board, you also might consider an Instagram scheduling tool. You can plan, worry, and handle everything in one sitting and then stop worrying about it. I wrote about what I think is the best Instagram Scheduling Tool (and how to get a month free to try it out).
Tell me More About Marketing on Pinterest. . .
I recently updated my Blogging and Social Media Series with a few posts about Pinterest. It led me to writing this post actually. The Pinterest world is so fun and so interesting. In the last few years, I’ve spent a crazy amount of time on Pinterest and it’s working – I’m getting traffic; I’m earning ad revenue; I’m getting new email subscribers! I feel great about ALL of those things! If you haven’t spent much time with your Pinterest Marketing, here’s a good place to start – it explains why it’s so helpful! If you’ve started but want a little more direction, here’s a piece on how to stay active on Pinterest without living on Pinterest.
May the force be with you as you try to turn away from worrying a little less about Instagram number and remembering that you’re fabulous no matter the numbers!
