I’m not sure what you’re supposed to wear on your 32nd birthday, but this doesn’t feel wrong! I could get deep about another year lived and all that’s changed and all that hasn’t, but frankly with how small this coffee is, we just don’t have time for that! Instead, let’s cheers that it’s Friday and everybody please enjoy a glass of wine tonight in honor of this wonderful day! In the meantime, let’s talk about how to dress up boyfriend jeans – quite possibly my favorite sartorial sleight of hand…
How to Dress up Boyfriend Jeans
I don’t know if it’s because I’ve slimmed down a bit this summer or the fact that I really haven’t washed these jeans in so long (read more on washing denim here), but they’ve been really loose on me. I love feeling slim, but that’s probably not the reality, so let’s get back to the small cup of coffee and that glass of wine later on! Anyway. I love the loose jeans situation, but that means we need to balance out all that comfort. The two easy tricks to dressing up boyfriend jeans? Tucking in your shirt (with a belt to keep it all in place) and adding a pair of heels. Of course the blazer is the ultimate step in how to dress up boyfriend jeans, but I don’t want to skip over those two other details!
In high school and college, I was the queen (princess?) of statement jewelry. Everywhere we traveled, I seemed to have a honing device that got me to the most eccentric jewelry stand at street fairs and fun little shops. Obviously something (let’s blame grad school) took me back to a much more classic jewelry style. I do occasionally, however, pick up a fun piece of jewelry – like this beaded-ball necklace from Cape Town last year (read more on my visit to the South African city here). I haven’t worn the necklace loads, but I do put it on every once in a while – usually with predominantly black and white ensembles like this one here! It’s a fun pop of color.
