You might be thinking that we’re done with easy makeup days as summer is coming to an end, but let’s be real. We all have those morning errands, very casual get-togethers with friends, and just general days of needing to pull yourself together just a little. It’s those times when a full face of makeup just isn’t gonna do it. When you want that simple, natural makeup look, the key is to really narrow down the number of products you use (i.e. pick good, multitasking ones) and to use them effectively to do a lot without much work. Here’s my very simple, natural makeup look tutorial and product recommendations.
Natural Makeup Look Tutorial
First up in this natural makeup look tutorial is a primer that does a few things – moisturizes, provides sun protection, evens out skin tone, and gives you a bit of color! Yep, all in one product that you apply with your fingers. I was recently introduced to the Dermalogica Skinperfect primer and have been loving my makeup so much more! Just rub between fingers and gently massage into your face. It’s obsess-worthy!! I’ve been wearing it on natural makeup days and photoshoot days alike!
Next up in your natural makeup look is a good tinted moisturizer that really gives you a good tint with some coverage. I love the Laura Medicare tinted moisturizer. It has a great shimmer, which makes everybody look beautiful by reflecting light. This moisturizer has a lot more coverage than any other similar product I’ve tried. I use the “warm radiance,” which is actually a little dark for me beyond the summer months, but I mix in a dab of opaque foundation…
Mixing foundation in with your tinted moisturizer makes the color perfect for my skin and adds just a bit more coverage! You can add more or less of each depending on your skin tone, so it’s really personalized for you!! You can either rub the products together between your fingers tips or mix them on a sponge to pat onto your face.
The last steps? Yeah, we’re pretty much done here. Give your eyes some shape. Except for the very fortunate few of us, we need to accentuate our eyes to stand out. But don’t go crazy, a little eyebrow shaping (and light filling if needed) and some mascara are all you need. Since we’re all about ease, opt for an eyebrow pencil with a brush on the other end! I do like to use an eyelash curler before applying my mascara for a little oomph.
Remember that your skin should be clean and moisturized before you do any makeup application to help it stay on better!
