I had a hard time deciding between a roundup of the best fall sweaters and rain boots for this month’s roundup. Since rain hasn’t even thought about showing up here in California, sweaters won out! Maybe that will make it rain – here’s the wishful thinking, right? Maybe I should get the car washed too…
I love a good sweater. Since “fall” and “winter” are terms I use loosely here in LA, my collection of sweaters has grown slowly, adding just one or two per year. Luckily earlier this year I had to figure out what to wear in Scotland and that included a few extra sweaters in my wardrobe! When creating your sweater wardrobe, you want to cover the basics first – in my case that’s black and tan.
After those basics, I think the best fall sweaters are those with a bit of fun – a great color, a fun detail, or an interesting pattern. Whether you like oversized, cable knit, turtleneck, or just plain soft sweaters, there seems to be something for everyone! I do like having a mix of turtleneck sweaters (I usually opt for looser and unfitted for a looser neck) as well as ones with a crew or v-neck. The former makes getting dressed easy. I can just wear my favorite layering tanks and tees underneath. The former allows for some fun with layering collared shirts!
I think I really am at my best sartorially speaking in the fall weather. Layers are my friend and I don’t have to worry about getting too wet.
