As I’m nearing my last weeks of maternity outfits (happy dance), my options are getting fewer and fewer and my desire to buy anything new is gone. I told my mom about my sartorial woes (mostly joking that I was wearing the same two things everyday). She suggested going through her closet for some loose dresses. I ended up coming home with two great dresses. Both are proving to be ideal for my last weeks of pregnancy outfits for summer…
So this dress is starting to have a story. A few years ago, my mom and I were on a Goodwill shopping kick. I hunted the shelves for food photography props and she sleuthed the book section. One day, we decided to check out the dress section and both managed to walk away with something less than $10. Her $6 find was this cherry print dress. She wore it to my French-themed bridal shower, more recently to my baby shower, and a number of times in between. She’s down to at least $0.75 per wear at this point.
When she pulled it out for me to try on a few weeks ago, I was doubtful it would fit around my belly. But it did and I’ve been wearing it every few days. We might be approaching the $0.30 per wear level at this point and I couldn’t be happier!
At nearly 38 weeks, I want loose and comfy. Many of my current dresses, however, are maxis and rather oversized. No complaints on that front, but it’s really nice to have a midi dress that’s somewhat tailored! And it still boggles my mind that it isn’t a maternity dress!
Pregnancy Outfits for Summer
I mentioned in this maternity wrap dress ensemble that accessories have taken the forefront in my miniscule closet collection. As I transition from my third to fourth trimesters (the postpartum phase), I’ll continue to wear many of the same pieces but adding in fun accessories here and there. I can picture my navy fedora with this cherry dress.
Of course nothing will top being able to wear my engagement and wedding rings again! That may end up being all the “new” accessories I need to feel myself again!
