The slip dress and camisole trends don’t seem to be trends at all. Somehow these sleek silhouettes have stood the test of time. They’re both somehow early 90s, 2000s, and definitely 2018. I bought this slip dress online a few summers ago before a weekend in Palm Springs with my sister. I loved that it was just loose enough to be comfortable, just the right material to hide any sweaty situations, and just conservative enough that I didn’t have to worry about it being too high in the legs (even with the slit) or too low up top! It’s really the epitome of a perfect summer dress, and a black slip dress outfit is perfect for such a range of activities…
Slip Dress Outfit
I’ve worn some sort of slip dress outfit out on date night, to an evening of karaoke, to lunch with friends, and lots of other things that I just can’t think of right now (#MondayProblems). I love that I can dress it up with heels or dress it down with flats. Or, in the case of a denim girl like me, I can keep it simple and layer on the jewelry or I can throw on a favorite denim jacket to make it just a little more casual.
Black Slip Dresses to Buy Now
Unlike many of the items in my closet, this slip dress seemed to disappear from the internet about as soon as I received it. Luckily, the style is so popular, there are tons of options. This v neck slip dress from Eileen Fisher is fairly identical to mine. It’s a bit longer and a bit looser, which are both wins in my book. Eileen Fisher is notorious for running large, so you’ll want to size down at least one size. This Paige slip dress is a little more ‘night out,’ but still quite lovely and long! If you’re looking for something shorter, try this Topshop scalloped dress. Or if all black truly scares you, this Kenneth Cole slip dress has a small chain accessory along the top hem.
