Since moving to LA, I’ve tried to understand my style. It’s somehow a balance (I hope) between quintessential LA (oodles of black and white with jeans) and the everlasting laid-back California style. I always think I’m so casual in LA, but then I leave the city and my outfits seem a little too city. I think that’s one of the things that I love so much about jeans, however, is you can never be too fancy with them on, but you can easily looked pulled together, so they’re great no matter where life takes me! When it comes down to it, jeans are the core of my California style – even in this casual trench coat outfit…
Casual Trench Coat Outfit
I always thought trench coats looked so formal and that was the appeal of them for me for so long. Since my husband got me this jacket in September for my birthday, however, all I’ve done is make casual trench coat outfits with it – usually with jeans and a scarf. For better or worse, I am a creature of habit with my style as much as anything else.
Burberry Trench Coat
Interestingly. I’ve always LOVED the look of the Burberry trench coats. My mom has one in her closet from years ago, but she never wears it. I asked her why and she said it was always so heavy and bulky, she never wanted to wear it. I’m pretty sure Burberry makes a variety of weights of coats and trench coats these days, but it’s something to keep in mind no matter what trench coat you’re looking for. Mine isn’t very heavy, but it’s the perfect layer for keeping the wind and chill out!
Anyway, this last time I put this coat on for a great outer layer, I put my sneakers on as well because I was heading out for a walk. With that I managed to make my casual look, even more low key. When I looked at myself in the mirror, however, I loved the balance of my casual jeans and sneakers with that classic trench coat silhouette! So now this is my new favorite look for chilly but dry days. I know coats and sneakers with no-show socks is really a spring outfit, but if we’re being real, it’s pretty perfect for LA Winters (until it starts raining, that is)!
