I feel cool in this outfit. That sounds so silly to say at the age of 30 (going on 13?), but I always love the way sneaker outfits look on other women. And I never seem to be able to pull it off in the same way. These new ECCO high top sneakers are really what brings this whole checked shirt outfit together though.
Checkered Shirt Outfit with Sneakers
My mom and husband both love ECCO and my dad wore their shoes fairly exclusively as well. They’re high-quality, well made, comfortable shoes, but I never ascribe cuteness to their designs. We walked into their store recently, for my husband to look at shoes. I wandered the women’s side with no goal in mind – only to be stopped in my tracks by these cute high top sneakers.
They’re available in a muted pink and a fun army green. I decided to stick with black since they’re more functional and versatile for me. And true to the brand, these bad boys were worn in before I put them on. I wore them around the house one night and then for a full day of walking with no rubbing, pain, or unhappiness – just a happy, healthy, “cool-looking” me! They’re also available in ankle-height.
Art of Layering
And let’s take a moment to praise the magic of layering! I love my white button down shirts, but they aren’t enough to really keep me warm. Adding this fun plaid shirt over it was the perfect addition of warmth and added a fun pop of print. Popping the collars in this outfit helped prevent any bulk around my neck, but it also kept me warm. You can see another very similar look to this checkered shirt outfit in my post on how to dress up a flannel. Winning on so many levels!
