Well I’ve made great progress in the last six months. Just after C was born, I basically stopped wearing all makeup and never felt like I looked presentable. Then I added in a tinted moisturizer, eyebrows, and mascara to my morning beauty routine – not as a plus. And now I’m back to my complete makeup routine and it’s great!
Many of these products are longtime favorites. There’s a few I plan to replace forever, others, I plan to move on. Here’s everything I use, in order, with how I apply them all!
My Complete Makeup Routine
This is my second time using this Magic Away Concealer in “3.” I love the color and the coverage.
The sponge applicator is faulty, however. About 2/3 of the way through the first container, the sponge applicator ripped off. On my second one, it ripped off after just a few weeks. So I just use my fingers to apply it.
It is also difficult to get the cap off, so I just barely push it on and it’s no problem. Overall the packaging is disappointing, however. I’m planning to try a different brand next time!
This is also my second time using the Hollywood Flawless Filter Foundation in “3 Light/Medium.” I apply it using the Magic Complexion Brush. I’m obsessed with the dewy look this gives to my skin, but it doesn’t feel heavy or annoying.
The brush is great for any foundation or tinted moisturizer. I use it to tap onto skin; It provides seamless coverage!
The compact comes with a lot of powder, so you rarely need to buy it new, which is always welcome news!
I started using the Kosås Color & Light Powder Blush Duo in “Contrachroma” when I started getting into clean beauty. I only use blush at the moment – applied with blush brush. It’s a beautifully subtle color.
The highlighter doesn’t have as much sheen as I like, however, I have also used it on my eyelids. The real color isn’t a pearly or light as this photo shows.
This is another one I’ve been using for years and keep coming back to. I featured in over two years ago in my how to brighten under eyes tutorial and I think it’s the only product from that setup I still religiously use.
This Matte Radiance Highlighter Powder in “Highlight 01” is actually in the same product line as the bronzer above. I apply it with the eye blender brush to my high cheek bones and bridge of my nose. It makes me look healthy and rested instantly!
This Laura Mercier Eye Brow Pencil in “Blonde” has been in my life a few years as well. Even when my complete makeup routine was barely minimalist, my eyebrow pencil (and mascara) were in it.
I’m a big fan of sharpened pencils for eyebrows so it doesn’t get too heavy.Just make sure the pencil is sharp every time you use it or you won’t like the way it looks!
Years and years and years. Ok, I don’t know how many but at least a decade (before we moved to LA for sure) of using Diorshow Lash-Extension Mascara in “090 Black.”
I’ve tried a few other brands and tubes. Nothing compares to the easy applicator brush, the buildable product, and that my sensitive eyes have no problem with it.
And again – the setting powder for the ages. This Translucent Setting Powder is the best I’ve found. I apply it with a kabuki brush. You can read my full review of the Laura Mercier Setting Powders and why this one is just so amazing!
