So as luck would have it, I think, I’m nearly done with my holiday shopping. I haven’t received most of the gifts and I haven’t wrapped a single one, but I’m almost there! I’ve been gifting a fair number of these eco-friendly gift ideas as part or whole of the gifts we’re giving this year!
Part of the ease this year, however, was that many of my husband’s and my siblings and we decided not to gift to one another this year and to donate to a charity instead. So that’s a whole hunk of people off my list. For the rest of those on our gift list, however, I’m trying to pick gifts that they’ll love and that will last a long time!
Find Ways to Be more Eco-Conscious this Holiday Season besides Gifting
It’s hard enough coming up with gift ideas let alone ones that support my efforts to be more conscious of wasting less. This list of sustainable gift ideas, however, are all chic, fun, and great for our planet! And a few of these you should absolutely get for yourself after the holidays...
eco-friendly Gift Ideas
Reusable Tote w. Customized Writing
Everyone seems to have reusable bags, but is everybody using them yet? If you have a stylish bag, however, you’re more likely to remember to use it. This reusable tote can have any name or phrase on it you like. You can even make group gifts for everyone with the same text!
Glass Jar Hand Soap
People love to gift bath and body products. Why not gift in a glass jar that they can refill too?! Follain offers a lemongrass and a lavender soap for purchase. And if you live in the area of their locations, you can pop in for easy refills!
Silicone Lids for EVERYTHING in the Kitchen
My mom actually found these silicone lids years ago and I’m OBSESSED with them. They are great replacements for plastic wrap and lids to store food. AND you can use them as lids for pots and pans on the stove and in the oven.
They’re actually available in a wide variety of sizes and colors (from 9×13″ pans to wine bottle stoppers!). These are a must in every kitchen! My favorite brand is Charles Viancin, but there are other brands of silicone lids as well.
Beeswax Wraps – a Sustainable Gift Idea Must
Keep food fresher longer (and without the use of plastic bags and wraps) with beeswax wrapper sheets. They come in sizes big and small (all the way p to a large loaf of bread)!
Stasher Reusable Bags
These reusable bags are getting more and more popular. Avoid having to buy boxes of bags ever again with these great reusable bags (that also offer protection for the goodies inside)!
These would be great to gift on their own or with homemade food gifts inside! You can find stasher bags at Amazon, Nordstrom, and The Container Store.
Foodcycler
If you’re looking for a nice gift for that person who loves cooking, loves gardening, or loves be eco-friendly, try the Foodcycler. It’s a countertop gadget that turns food scraps and waste into a “foodilizer” to add to your garden soil! Read my electric composter review here and see how to use the byproduct in the garden!
Collapsible, Reusable Cup
This reusable cup by Stojo is next level exciting. It collapses into a small disc while you’re on the go and then expands into a full drinking cup with straw.
They’re available in a variety of colors and sizes (up to 20oz,!) You can gift this alone or with a gift card for coffee/tea!
Bar Soap
Go “old school” with clean beauty bar soap, which lasts longer and is cleaner than body washes. You can also gift a soap bag for a bigger gift!
This almond scent is from the fabulous L’Occitane. Jo Malone also has some decadent options as well!
Refillable Store Credit
If you’re looking to support local business and gift something truly eco-friendly, give credit to a local refillable store where everyone can refill containers of laundry soap, hand soap, body wash, lotion, etc. with great clean products.
