I almost forgot about doing this month’s clean/sustainable product review – and it’s only month 2. I doubt I’m alone in losing track of time, intentions, and everything else, however! But in the meantime here are a few reviews, updates, and products on my radar, starting with this annmarie facial oil review…
See month one here for my review of silk floss, stojo collapsible cups, and toothpaste bites.
Sidenote: I’m also still in a debate about sharing how I’ve been managing this time. Not that I’m overachieving and maximizing, but there have been habits, apps, and practices that are getting me through each week – sometimes with a smile on my face and a fresh breath of air in my life!
April Sustainable or Clean Products Review
annmarie herbal facial oil review
In the process of becoming more sustainable, I have had to force myself to say no or limit freebies. In the world of beauty blogging, the number of free products sent and received willy nilly is out of this world. But I obviously like trying new products. So I try to be incredibly mindful to selecting only products which fit into my needs and new goals of less waste (and being cleaner).
Enter annmarie skincare – an organic, non-toxic beauty brand based out of Berkeley, CA (GO BEARS!). I had a one-on-one phone call with one of their representatives and picked out items to try (in sample sizes) specifically for my facial needs. I LOVE the neroli toning spray, but this herbal facial oil is totally winning me over right now.
So. First things first. This facial oil smells AMAZING. I honestly started using it consistently once life got a little crazy these last few weeks. It smells like you just got a facial and I need to trick myself into thinking that more than anything these days.
But then I started to notice how my skin would still feel SO moisturized the next morning I love that just a few drops is all you need and that the moisturization lasts ALL NIGHT and beyond!
You can get an AnnMarie sample kit with 3 serum samples for just $10 (and a $10 coupon off your first order}.
rms beauty “un” cover-up review
I mentioned in my complete makeup routine post that I planned to try a new concealer after I finished the one I’d been using for the last two years or so. This rms “un” cover-up keeps popping up in my world and with stellar reviews, so I gave it a shot!
I was hesitant about ordering the concealer online since I had no idea about what color to get and there are 16 shades. I could obviously narrow it down, but concealer is one of those things that needs to be pretty exact. So I guessed…on #11. There’s a good showing of each of the shades here.
So how did it work? Well it seems like it won’t cover up very well, but it does. And while I wasn’t even thinking about it that first day of wearing it, my husband commented that my makeup looked good that day! I think in addition to covering up areas, it also adds a nice hue or brightness – not in a shiny, oily…in a healthy skin looking way!
I ordered this from Follain – a great online store with clean beauty at all price ranges!!
Stasher Reusable Bags
I saw these stasher reusable bags a while ago but could never pull the trigger to spend the money on them. I didn’t think they weren’t worth the money. It’s just that I already had ziploc bags and figured when I ran out of those, I’d slowly start buying these reusable bags.
Then I got this 1/2 gallon size for Christmas. And now I can’t wait to ditch all the single-use bags in our kitchen for a set of these!
So why are they so great? Besides replacing single use plastics – they’re durable, reusable, microwave-safe, dishwasher-safe, sous-vide ready, oven strong, and they come in a variety of colors (if you’re into that kind of excitement)!
They come in snack size, sandwich size, 1/2 gallon, upright bags, and more! And you don’t just have to use them in the kitchen. Use them for leak-proof travel containers, pen/pencil bags, or whatever sounds good!
OTHER GREEN + CLEAN PRODUCTS TO TRY
And then my constantly expanding list of other sustainable, green, or clean products I desperately want to try…
We just ordered some more Charles Viancin silicone dish covers. My mom has used these for years, but now we’re trying the rectangle and square dish covers! They too are oven-safe, microwave safe, and great for covering dishes in the refrigerator! You can also find them on Amazon!
I’m dying to try these charcoal sticks. They’re supposed to filter water naturally. I think they’d be great for our bathroom cups of water since our tap water tastes a bit off!
And in all my mom and sisters’ years of canning, they’ve always used Kerr or Ball jars for canning. But those lids are only single use. So I’m hoping to try some of these Weck jars for canning this summer. The seal is reusable – not forever, but apparently quite a while!
