When asked if I’d like to share about the delicious Harry & David Gourmet selection, I couldn’t say yes fast enough. At least once per year growing up, my parents and I hopped in the car destined for Medford, Oregon to buy pears by the lug-full (almost 25 pounds each). Once we’d picked out our pears, we wandered the aisles of their store, filling our cart with a lot of fun deliciousness. Then we’d head home with a full car. Living in LA, the joys of Harry & David haven’t been as frequent, hence my eagerness…
Harry & David Gourmet
So what is Harry & David Gourmet? It’s a curated collection of some classic Harry & David offerings along with some new creations. Items range from dips, snacks, and starters to complete dinners, dessert, and wine – basically everything you’d want for elegant entertaining or gifting with ease. They offer items in a wide range of price points, so there’s something for everyone.
Given my excitement for Harry & David, I ordered goodies (details below) for us to enjoy with a few friends. I do love the idea, however, that I could send items from their gourmet selection to friends, however. Whether it’s for a holiday gift, a birthday treat, or a little extra love and support for new parents, I just love the idea of sending food that I know will be delicious for others. They have really cute Halloween gift options too that are sublimely adorable!
Harry & David Gourmet Dinners
You all know I LOVE entertaining, but I’m not too comfortable cooking roasts or big, fancy entrees like that. I know practice will help, but in the meantime, I think I’m gonna let others do the hard work for me! This stuffed chateaubriand was so delicious and really rather easy to cook. I followed the directions, waiting until it hit the right temperature (I took mine out a little early since I like a good amount of color in my beef). It cut easily and was so deliciously tender. I finished the plate with my herb roasted potatoes, letting them soak up some of the tasty juices from roasting the chateaubriand.
One of my favorite finds in their selection was the “California Classics Collection” from Cowgirl Creamery – a northern California morsel. You get five delectable cheese shipped straight to your door. You just have to try not to start taste testing before everyone arrives. I placed the cheese on a slate board with some grapes and crackers for a complete setup before, during, or after dinner. You can see I added some thyme leaves to the meat and cheese plates – a little pizzaz that took no work at all.
And, of course, the wine! I still don’t consider myself great at picking out wines, so I opted for their award-winning white and red wine pair. They’re both Oregon wines, so I knew they’d be good and since I didn’t want to fuss at dinner, we opened both bottles and let everyone decide and pour for themselves – with me filling up the glasses of course!
Fall Table Decor
Since Harry & David Gourmet did all the hard work for our dinner, I had some time and energy for a little fall table decor. A few persimmons, a couple miniature white pumpkins, eucalyptus, and a few seasonally colored mums – we were set. I cut the flowers just beneath the bloom so they lay nicely on the table. With just a few dishes, these few items really filled up space without getting in the way or seeming like an ordeal.
