I saw this exact outfit (sans the hat and belt) on a mannequin in the mall a few weeks ago (as I was going down the escalator) and I couldn’t get it out of my head. The tailored, tucked-in look and the fact it’s a button down, cotton shirt rather than a more relaxed flannel were just too perfect. I love that I can dress it up a bit and it will layer beautifully under just about anything! So, I came home from the shopping center and scoured the website until I found this exact shirt.
Chic Plaid Shirt Outfit
Anything that goes with black jeans is a win in my book, but this blue plaid shirt with the black and white detailing just paired so naturally with the black denim, I had to recreate it. I added my favorite blue hat and called it a day. Well, called it a day except my yellow belt. This belt had to have been less than $10 about ten years ago and I still wear it more than any other belt in my closet…
How do you wear plaid shirts?
One of the best things about plaid shirts is their bold/classic vibe that gives you a great pop of color without screaming in color or print. Whenever I’m figuring out how to wear a plaid shirt, I usually start by pulling colors in the pattern itself. Black, blue, and white pants would go great with this top. I also love layering plaid shirt under lightweight jackets and letting the collar and cuffs pop out as a bit of detail (like this dressed up flannel outfit I wore a few weeks ago)!
