Instagram is a funny, crazy, and super necessary thing in the world of modern advertising and blogging! For better and worse, however, there’s only one place to organically have a link associated with your profile. Because of this, that one link should be everything you could ever want (and possibly more). As you can see from my Instagram landing page, I offer quite a bit in just a short bit of space.
What should be on your Instagram Landing Page?
Your Instagram landing page is the first place potential followers go to get more from you. They either want to know more about you or, more likely, you told them to “click the link in my profile,” and they generously did! Make sure to offer what people are most likely looking for. In the case of bloggers, this should include your latest post, a few of your most popular posts/pages, a link to sign up for your newsletter if you have one, and a search feature. You don’t want to overwhelm people, but you want to make it easy for them to find exactly what they want! Since less is more, you’ll want to remove any ads, popups, and anything crazy like your headers and footers. I even remove my social media icons, figuring that people are on this page from my Instagram profile, so they aren’t likely wondering how to find me.
How do you make an Instagram Landing Page?
I made my own Instagram landing page and figuring out the layout and content was the hardest part! I use WordPress, so these tidbits are mostly related to wordpress functionality.
To get rid of a lot of the fluff and the sidebar on this page, I created a new page and made the template a landing page template.
For the latest post feature, I installed the Post Grid plugin. You can play around with the size and display settings to make it work just for you. I have it set to only show the latest post. Again, remember that less is more. You can also set it to only show posts from a certain category or whatever you like!
For the links, I used the following coding. You’ll want to change the urls and text for your own needs if you use this one…
Remember that you should keep this updated as needed. If you want to send your IG followers somewhere new, then just add a new link in!
