Winter Burrata Appetizer with Fruit

WINTER APPETIZER PLATE

Enjoy the easy setup of this burrata appetizer that comes together in minutes and features fresh, seasonal fruit! This plate can be assembled anytime of year with seasonal fruit, but the citrus pairs so beautifully with the burrata, honey, and smoked almonds! I think it's my favorite time to make it.

Equipment

  • 1 paring knife
  • 1 plate or board

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces burrata
  • 1 to 2 pink grapefruits supremed
  • 1 to 2 navel oranges supremed
  • 2 mandarins peeled and segmented
  • ½ cup smoked almonds
  • ¼ cup honey
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  • Place the burrata in the center of a serving bowl or platter. Arrange the grapefruit, orange, and mandarin segments, along with the almonds, around the cheese.
  • Warm the honey. You can put it in the microwave for about 20 seconds or put the honey in a bowl and set the bottom of the bowl in a dish of hot water. Stir the honey vigorously for about 30 seconds until it is smooth, easy to drizzle, and looks a bit frothy.
  • Cut the burrata and drizzle with some of the honey. To serve, allow everyone to build their bowl of citrus and top it with burrata, almonds, honey, and mint leaves.
