Have you ever had an experience where you randomly create a recipe only to discover it's already a very well know dish? That was the story with these almond green beans. Only after I made them at home did I realize the French have Green Beans Almondine and that Chinese restaurants have Spicy green beans which are now my dish of choice.

In a microwave safe bowl, cook green beans and water covered for 3-5 minutes, depending on desired crunchiness. Drain water.
Meanwhile, in a pan large enough to hold green beans, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add almonds. Saute 2-3 minutes to coat and toast almonds.
Slowly add green beans. Beware of sizzle from water hitting hot pan. Add salt and pepper. Toss almonds and green beans in olive oil until beans begin to char (2-3 minutes).
