Peach Grilled Cheese
So don’t tell anyone, but I’m actually not a big fan of plain ole grilled cheese. Maybe a bite or two, but it doesn’t otherwise whet my appetite. Put some fresh fruit or veggies in that ole grilled cheese, however, and I can’t say yes fast enough! You know like some thinly sliced stone fruit!! So saddle up your griddle or frying pan and hop to making this scrumptious peach grilled cheese with smoked cheddar…

Peach Grilled Cheese
If you took a second glance to see if those really were peaches, I don’t blame you. They’re actually white peaches. You can’t help it when you head to the store or farmers market with yellow peaches in mind, but it’s white peaches they’re selling! And you know what, I actually think white peaches are better much of the time! They have a delicate sweetness that’s perfection.
If we used a very mild cheese with the sweet peach slices, this might be a little too sweet for my taste. That’s why you add some grown up cheese (hello smoked cheddar) and some arugula. A bit smoky with the sweet and then a bit of tang all wrapped up in toasty, buttery, cheesy goodness…. uhh yeah. Sign me up for two!
Since markets don’t always have the exact thing you have in mind or it’s stupid expensive, I always like to share options for ingredients in recipes…
Just like every other stone fruit recipe I’ve shared (I’m looking at you green bean, corn, peach salad and you nectarine sangria), white peaches can be subbed or mixed with yellow peaches, plums, or apricots. You could even switch it up a few times and have everyone thinking you have many delicious recipes up your sleeve.
Of course the kind of cheddar you use is totally up to you. If smoked cheddar isn’t your jam, opt for a sharp cheddar. That more robust flavor is just too good to pass up here!
What to Serve with Peach Grilled Cheese
This peach grilled cheese is so hearty, you don’t need much to round out the meal. I’m always trying to eat more veggies, so I’d recommend this simple radicchio salad with corn or this no mayo coleslaw – both great for hot summer evenings!
And, side note, if you love seasonal grilled cheese, try this pumpkin grilled cheese.
