Crunchi Makeup Review

It’s been a few months since I started using Crunchi skincare. After a few samples, I wanted to give their cosmetics a try, so here is my Crunchi makeup review to complete my Crunchi skincare review!

Crunchi Makeup

I’ve said it a number of times here and definitely more on my sustainable Instagram account, great looking makeup and that natural look are really only going to happen with healthy, happy skin. It’s why I talk about clean beauty and non toxic makeup brands so much! It’s also how you can achieve a minimalist makeup routine.

If you’re looking for some go-to brands, Crunchi is absolutely one of them – rigorously tested, 3rd party certified, and wildly effective (yet gentle enough for sensitive skin). So it’s probably no surprise that their makeup is just as clean, but how does it look and work??

The thing to know about Crunchi makeup is that it’s just as clean, safe, and effective as their skincare. Furthermore, it is helpful to know that they don’t use anything synthetic, including colorants, so you may find the color varieties fewer than other brands. BUT they are great products.

Crunchi Concealer Review

Their My Alibi Liquid Concealer was actually the first Crunchi makeup product I bought – because it’s what I needed. I will repeat this throughout this review, but a little goes a looooong way with all Crunchi makeup and skin care.

The first time I used the Crunchi concealer, I dabbed it around both eyes and was overwhelmed by how much extra product I had. Now I just do 2-3 dabs around each eye and dab with a very light touch. As with all their products (and any makeup), you can always add more.

The color is spot on for me (I’m using L5 – the lightest color), doesn’t rest in creases or dry out, and it goes on easily. So – loving the Crunchi concealer.

Tinted SPF & Crunchi Foundation Review

Ok, so face products. Crunchi now (this is recent) has two options – their beloved Beautifully Flawless Foundation and now their Sunlight Tinted SPF 30. It feels important to start out by saying that I don’t wear foundation, so this is borrowed and I’m here for the quick overview. I’m a tinted spf woman for life!

The Beautifully Flawless Foundation is a lovely product – one of the cleanest foundations on the market! I’m wearing shade 2.0 and the color is pretty spot on for my complexion. And, again, I will say how little you need. I use about one whole pump of product on my entire face – so you can see the container will last a while!

I love the pump as well – it makes controlling the amount of product dispersed each time more controlled, so you don’t waste product. The foundation doesn’t dry out, and you can see from the images below that it isn’t super dewy.

I happen to like a slightly dewy finish and I have no patience for applying a full face of makeup, which is why you won’t find me wearing foundation. Because of that, I’m loving the Sunlight Tinted SPF 30.

Just like the foundation, it has the pump, which I love. I know exactly how much I’ll need to get the job done. As you can see, it has good coverage, but isn’t opaque like the foundation and it is a bit dewy, but it isn’t very dewy. I really love it.

I’m wearing the light-medium here, which is good for my summer color. I’ll likely move to the light color as my skin tone winterizes! ๐Ÿ˜‰

If you’ve been around for long, you know I think this other brand has the best tinted moisturizer…but this one is likely a serious contender to be just as beloved.

Liquid Blush Review

The Cheekmate Liquid Blush is my first time using liquid blush – I was previously using a blush stick, however, so the application idea is similar. I use the Guava liquid blush and really love it.

To use a liquid blush, apply a few dots along your cheek bone. Use your third or fourth fingers tips to TAP it into place. Tapping is more effective than rubbing at leaving more color on your skin. Use rubbing merely to fix up anything.

So, again, a little goes a long way. Depending on how much color I’m looking for on my cheeks, I use 3-6 light dots of the liquid blush and then tap it in. I love the guava hue – it’s a very low key color that is quite buildable and lovely. Love the liquid blush.

Crunchi Mascara Review

I was hesitant to try the Crunchi mascara as reviews were so mixed. I anticipated it being like the Beautycounter mascara, which was a globby mess, but I was determined to try as much as I could, so I ordered the Shattered Mascara and will add my review to my ever expanding natural mascara reviews.

So, the Crunchi mascara has been a little hard for me to get a handle on, but I think I’ve got it now. First, it’s a clean formula and it uses a fiber wand, which is my preferred wand. The first few uses, the application amount was minimal, but I’ll always remember from my DiorShow mascara days that the first few applications, if light, shouldn’t be trusted.

So, after a couple applications, the application was fine enough for me – you can see it in the SPF/foundation images above. SO, the application process has been good for me – easy, peasy.

Here’s the rub, for me, some days the mascara is fantastic – no issues. I basically forget I’m wearing mascara. Other days, my eyes are a little itchy and dry and the mascara smudges or flakes. I’ve realized that though my eyes aren’t super sensitive, they are sensitive, and if it’s windy or dry outside, my eyes get a little irritated with this mascara.

So, I’m not one for mascara that isn’t perfect and the Shattered Mascara just doesn’t cut it for me. I’ll be sticking with this mascara, however.

Eyebrow Pencil

A friend tried the Nutribrow Eyebrow Pencil and raved about it, so I gave it a go. I use the lightest color they offer – shade 1. I have to tell you that my platinum blonde hair makes my eyebrows look much darker than they are. I’ve always used the lightest colored brow pencils and many of them are actually too dark.

This is the first brow pencil I’ve used in YEARS that doesn’t have a pencil sharpener with it and I’m still getting used to it, but not having the extra metal and plastic-material wand is WAY MORE SUSTAINABLE.

I do really like the eyebrow pencil application and color. There isn’t anything pizzazy about it, but it works well!

Side note – I’ve used a brow serum this year and my brows have absolutely filled in. Read my eyebrow growth serum review and photos to see the results!
