I warned you on Monday that my first DIY Holiday Gift post was coming. I know it’s early in the holiday season, but I’m so excited to share this DIY holiday gift idea! After last year’s DIY Infused Olive Oils and DIY Seasoning Mixes, I’ve been dreaming up homemade gifts for this year, especially homemade nut butters.
The great thing about these DIY holiday gift posts is that the recipes themselves are great year round and they’re easy and wonderful gifts for friends and family members. Whether you give these homemade nut butters away as presents or as a thank you (say, to a host), they’re sure to be a winner!
When it comes to containers and decor for homemade gifts, I’ve been trying to reuse containers as much as possible. Heck, for decor, I’ve been using up my ribbon and gift wrap selection from years prior.
Local Facebook groups and secondhand stores are great places for containers.
And be sure to check out these sustainable gift wrap ideas.
HOMEMADE NUT BUTTERS
Ok. Back to these homemade nut butters. Different nut butters are all the rage. We know I’m a huge peanut butter lover, but I’m a general nut lover too, so these twists on one of my favorites are a huge win.
And they all whip together so easily in a food processor. It’s great for making one jar, five jars, or ten! I personally am obsessed with this mixed nut and seed butter because the flavors combine so nicely and so richly, but honey and peanut butter is always a tasty combination. It’s an easy and tasty rice cake topping too
Honey Peanut Butter
Honey peanut butter is exactly that, but when you’re making it at home, it can be a little finicky.
First, you’ll want to include a touch of vegetable oil (or your oil of choice). This gives it that smoother consistency most honey peanut butters have.
Next, you’ll want to wait until you’ve ground all the ingredients EXCEPT the honey completely before adding in the honey. Adding the honey too soon and mixing it too much will give you clumpy honey nut butter, so be patient.
For the honey peanut butter, I used a gold marker on a black kraft paper tag (similar), matching it with a gold ribbon.
Mixed Seed & Nut Butter
So as I mentioned above, i’m am all about this mixed nut and seed butter situation. It’s basically all the yumminess of each of the flavors. This mix uses almonds, hazelnuts, cashews, and sunflower seeds.
You could absolutely swap in pecans or peanuts as desired. Play around with this one – it’s really quite tasty.
Homemade Gift Ideas
If you love giving (and receiving) homemade gifts, you’ll love these.
This infused olive oil is always a hit (especially with a loaf of bread when getting together). DIY Salad Dressings are also a fun idea as are dried herbs.
For those of you who love baking (I do!), try these old fashioned sugared nuts (the recipe makes a big batch) and chocolate dipped figs!
