Cantaloupe Smoothie
After professing my irritation at smoothies always labeled as healthy in this lime smoothie recipe (that one is totally a dessert), I went ahead with a cantaloupe smoothie that, I promise, is healthy! I’d feel bad about it, but then every time there’s deliciousness to share, it feels as though I’ve made up for my errant ways!
And what can I say? It’s hot. I’m thirsty. And I can NEVER get enough summer fruit in any form – fresh, frozen, blended, on a dessert, or any way you can imagine!!
And as you can probably guess at this point, any way I can get a treat that’s refreshing, gets me some nutrients, and comes together with no work (and possibly one hand at some moments), I’m all in!! Whatever makes momma happy, makes the casa happy, right?! See! I’m getting the hang of things!

Cantaloupe Smoothie
Obviously cantaloupe is the obvious summer melon that comes to mind here, but there are a number of other substitutes. Other melons like cantaloupe include canary melons, casaba melons, charentais, and the list goes on.
In this melon smoothie recipe, you can absolutely substitute a honeydew or other green-fleshed summer melon. The banana and coconut will marry with those flavors nicely as well.
See how to properly store bananas so they don’t go bad so easily for you!
What melons can you use in smoothies?
The only melon varieties I’d avoid in this melon smoothie are watermelons. But if you have watermelons, then you MUST MAKE this watermelon fizz mocktail and/or my favorite white wine, watermelon summer sangria!
So as I mentioned in the piรฑa colada smoothie recipe, smoothies shouldn’t be a gallon-sized libation. That’s just too much sugar (though it be natural). This recipe make about 1.5 cups of smoothie. Just enough to get refreshed, get some good nutrients, and to come together in a matter of minutes! Which, let’s face it, are all crucial in the summer heat!!
More Cantaloupe Recipes
I don’t know if there are enough cantaloupe recipes in this world, so here are my few small contributions. This sweet & spicy grilled cantaloupe is a fun summer cookout addition! And this cantaloupe cocktail was served at our wedding, we like it so much! My favorite cantaloupe salad feature mozzarella, bacon, and a yummy basil dressing!!
And while these melon skewers with mozzarella are shown with honeydew, they’d be great with cantaloupe (or a combination of the two).
