I’ve been wanting to do a rosé sangria for quite some time and when I drank this bottle, I just knew it would be perfect for my first foray…

When I got home from our three week trip to southern Africa, my husband surprised me with flowers, a clean home, and a bottle of rosé brut (sparkling rosé) chilled in the fridge. I was so tired the first night back, however, that we saved it for the next day when I was able to make it through more than two sips before falling asleep!

While I LOVE rosé, I’m not usually big on champagne, so I didn’t know how well I’d like it. As it turns out, the bottle he brought home (this La Burgondie from Trader Joe’s) was much more rosé than champagne and I loved it. It was light, fruity, and the bubbles made it ideal for summer.

So, that week I went to Trader Joe’s to buy another bottle and waited until we went on the Fresno Fruit Trail a few weeks later, waiting anxiously for some delicious stone fruit to mix into the sangria.

I hadn’t decided between peaches or nectarines until it came time to make it. I decided the slightly tarter flavor of the nectarines (not to mention their smoother skin) was what I wanted – though the peaches would be equally delicious. And so was born this nectarine sparkling rosé sangria.

If you don’t want to use sparkling wine, you could certainly use your favorite rosé. Or if you aren’t into rosé, then your favorite sparkling wine wine would be great.

Either way the orange liqueur is the perfect addition of slight sweetness and the ginger beer (non-alcoholic) adds such great flavor. It’s really what takes this drink from being a mix of ingredients to being a well-blended sangria!

If you have a mix of guests, offer this ginger beer mocktail alongside this sangria!

ROSÉ SANGRIA

I love making sangrias. I oftentimes pick wine varietals with which I’m familiar, but when my husband brought me this sparkling rose one night, I immediately wanted to try it with some summer fruit. It’s even more refreshing than your classic sangria recipe and those sparkling bubbles are a sure hit with everybody at your table!

Ingredients

  • 1-750 mL Bottle Rosé Brut
  • 12 oz. bottle ginger beer {I love Reed’s and Bundaberg}
  • ¼ cup Cointreau or preferred orange liqueur
  • 2 nectarines sliced

Instructions

  • Combine ingredients in large pitcher. Stir gently.
  • Chill 2-3 hours before serving.
