How to Apply Liquid Blush

I’m a convert to liquid blush. Well, and cream blush. I used powder blush for so long, the idea weirded me out. Then I tried a cream blush and didn’t use it right (hello, no color). But now I know how to apply liquid blush and I think I’ve found the best liquid blush – natural and buildable! It’s this one and it’s perfection!

How to Apply Liquid Blush
There are two ways to apply liquid blush – with your fingers or with an angled cream blush brush (I like this one). I do both methods, depending on my needs and what look I’m going for.
Easily layered atop my favorite facial tinted sunscreen, I often dab it on with my fingers. When I’m doing a full face of makeup (using the best natural foundation of course), I use the brush method.
No matter how you apply liquid blush, the main idea is to tap it into place, not rub or swipe it into place. You just won’t get as good of pigment on your skin and it’ll disappear very quickly.
The Finger Dabbing Application Method
- Dab liquid blush on cheeks.
- Begin tapping into cheeks, working up toward hairline.
- Continue tapping into place.
- Fix by rubbing edges or heavy applications.
- Place dab of liquid blush onto the back of your hand.
- Tap blush brush into liquid blush to evenly apply to bristles
- Tap brush along cheeks, working from apple of cheeks up to hairline.
- Continue tapping into place until evenly distributed. Swipe edges for flawless look.
Best Liquid Blush
Liquid blush is the best because it’s buildable, more forgiving to application (easier to minimize), and doesn’t settle into any lines – giving you a hydrated and glowing look! One of the things about blush is that some colors are a little to ‘synthetic.’ Blush is designed to add a natural health to your look. So unnatural colors doesn’t do that – it’s more paint and decoration. You know I’m all about a minimalist makeup look.
These Cheekmate blushes use only natural pigments, giving you that natural healthy glow. The great part is they’re very buildable if you want MORE color, but they can also easily add a light touch of pink. These also have plant squalene to provide a silky-smooth texture thatโs lightweight.
On the topic of clean ingredients doing magical things, these have snow mushroom & meadowfoam seed oil, which help to hydrate, soothe, and plump the skin. Snow mushroom is in the foundation I love so much, never making the makeup feel heavy or cakey!
And then it has licorice root extract – rich in flavonoids and natural antioxidant properties to help protect the skin against environmental stressors!

These are the liquid blush I use – the guava (lighter color) and the pomegranate (darker). I use them alone and you can see how I layer them below as well!
Best Cream Blush
Before I started using Crunchi’s liquid blushes, I was using this cream blush stick and I still think it’s a phenomenal product. And while its application is similar to liquid blush (below), you’ll just only swipe onto cheeks before dabbing into place with your fingers or a blush brush.
