Great Vancouver Restaurants + Coffee Shops
I’m pretty sure I’ve shared this before, but I firmly believe cold metropolitan cities are guaranteed to have good food, coffee, and beer. I can’t attest to that last one personally as I’m not a big beer drinker, but the first two are my specialties. Vancouver restaurants and coffee shops proved my theory right again. I came home with FAR MORE photos of tasty food than anything else!

Vancouver Coffee Shops
First things first – coffee (and morsels to go along of course). We picked out a few coffee shops while in Vancouver – two were in GasTown, one in Yaletown, and one in the downtown area.
In Yaletown, you absolutely must go to Small Victory. It’s more of a bakery than a coffee shop, but their coffee is also delicious. The French-inspired bakery offers croissants, scones with cream and jam, and more substantial breakfast options.
We opted to share the almond croissant and fell in love. There were also croissant bites, rolled in cinnamon sugar. Exercising so, SO MUCH self control, I skipped those. But as you can see, I probably missed a grand opportunity.
As fans of 49th Parallel Coffee at one of our local coffee shops, stopping into their shop was a must. They actually have three locations in the city. Each of them is also part of a Lucky’s Donuts shop, so no worries about enjoying a delicious morsel with their coffee.
GasTown Coffee
GasTown is an absolutely must. It’s a great area for restaurants, coffee shops, and shopping in Vancouver. You’ll see a few recommendations for the area in this guide.
For coffee, there are two coffee shops and a delectable bakery to jot down. The first is Revolver Coffee. Order your coffee and morsel and then wander into the adjoining room to enjoy.
We grabbed seats along the window and watched the passersby. They offer coffee flights if you’re ready to really get caffeinated and they feature local roasters.
Around the corner to the right is Purebread – a haven for carb lovers. Order your pastry (pastries!) from here.
They do sell coffee here, but I recommend taking it the short jaunt (less than two blocks) to Timbertrain Coffee Roasters. Their interior is set up like a train car and they too have fun window seats.
Gas Town is full of fun little shops – local boutiques and more well-known names. Don’t forget to look down the streets to see the gorgeous mountains in the background!
Vancouver Restaurants
Once you’ve caffeinated and walked around town for a bit, it’s most certainly time for lunch. I have three great recommendations – two of which have more than one location. You’ll be set wherever you’re ready to rest your feet and fill your tummy.
First up is The Lamplighter Public House. It’s actually a pub, which is why I definitely recommend it for lunch. Though I’m not usually a fried chicken person, their fried chicken sandwich is positively delicious. We started with a tasty salad and split the sandwich! That hot sauce was JUST RIGHT! My husband ordered the steak frites which he loved as usual!
Right across the street in Gastown is The Flying Pig – one of the most recommended restaurants in Vancouver. It was SOOO good and I’m embarrassed to say that I forgot my trusty camera the day we had lunch there.
We tried the pulled pork sandwich, caesar salad, and roasted chicken. It was all delectable. They also have locations in Yaletown and Olympic Village. It’s a great spot for lunch or dinner. I’d recommend reservations if you’re opting for dinner. It’s a popular stop for locals and tourists.
Last up on your lunch list is Burgoo Bistro – with five locations around the city. I must have been on a major sandwich kick during this trip because we ordered the Cubano here and it was mouthwatering as well. We got it with a side of the tomato soup and a cheese fondue.
Their menu offers a variety of cuisines and everything is prepared well. They were also incredibly accommodating and helpful with food allergies and sensitivities!
Dinner Restaurants in Vancouver
Ok. Now time for dinner. We had a few favorites during our trip, but our top two were Provence Marinaside in Yaletown and The Keg.
Provence Marinaside is an upscale French restaurant that does it all right! We split the seafood platter with a butter/cream sauce situation that was to die for. My husband had the rack of lamb. And then we finished it off with a great pear dessert.
The Keg is a steakhouse with five locations around the city. We ended up there on our first night with no reservations. Their steaks are really great and it has a great vibe, mixing casual with upscale!
We ended up back for a second night on New Year’s Eve! Even their small dinner salad was great – full of veggies and topped with a delicious dressing!
Another cute spot in Yaletown was WildTale – a seafood restaurant with a fun vibe (now closed). You’ll find in Yaletown, rows of local restaurants. Vancouver is a city that loves food and has plenty of it to offer!
