Cantaloupe Sangria Cocktail

Chardonnay Cantaloupe Sangria
The wedding is in a week and a half and it’s time to make some big decisions! Namely what sangrias we’re going to serve at our cocktail hour and is this chardonnay cantaloupe sangria going to make the shortlist?

I’ve loved each of the sangria recipes I’ve shared, but ultimately we had to narrow it down to just two. Life is full of hard choices, I know. We needed something that was delicious but also not too complicated for our caterer to pull together.

Originally I planned to have one red and one white option. In the end, however, our two favorites were the Strawberry Ginger Pinot Grigio and this Chardonnay Cantaloupe sangria.

They both have three ingredients and the fruit and wines highlight each other perfectly! And the colors are so beautiful! They’ll be perfect, I’m sure!

One of the things I really like about this cantaloupe sangria is this fresh fruit. I’m not huge on the juice craze in LA, but there have been a few good finds. One is watermelon juice and the other is cantaloupe juice. Cantaloupe has so much natural sweetness that you don’t need much else in terms of sweetness or flavor.

Making juice from these two fruits is insanely easy. I pureed some ripe melon to make the juice and then cut up very small pieces in the mixture to maintain that sangria feel with fresh fruit.

Cantaloupe Chardonnay SangriaBecause the fruit and the ‘juice’ are the same really, the time it takes to marry all the flavors is minimal compared to other recipes, which is even better when you want a tasty cocktail on a hot summer day.

Hopefully all our guests love the sangria; I know we will on this day and each day forward!

Want more sangria recipes? Other summer favorites include plum sangria, strawberry sangria, nectarine sparkling rose sangria, cherry sangria, and watermelon sangria!

For the cooler months, try raspberry sangria with thyme (made with frozen berries), kiwi & prosecco sangria, winter sangria made with white wine, and Riunite Lambrusco sangria!

And don’t miss my brunch sangria – great any day of the year!

CANTALOUPE SANGRIA COCKTAIL

Along with a strawberry sangria, we served this cantaloupe chardonnay sangria at our wedding. Cantaloupe juice seems like a foreign concept, but it’s actually quite tasty (yes, even on its own). It’s a refreshing way to enjoy a cocktail on a warm summer day wedding or not)!
