Every new season I’m caught between wanting to buy a whole new wardrobe and rewearing those favorites from seasons past. You all know I rewear things season after season, so it always ends up being a combination of those two desires, which is just how it should be I think. This long sleeve midi dress was a fun purchase last fall, but I’ve been hesitant to figure out how to wear booties with a dress until this look happened a few weeks ago…
Long Sleeve Midi Dresses
I don’t own or wear a ton of dresses, but midi dresses are my absolutely favorite. With legs on the shorter side, maxi dresses just don’t work for me all the time (they have to be ankle length). And since I’ve just never felt comfortable showing much of my legs, short/mini dresses are a no-go.
Midi dresses are the perfect solution and I’m totally obsessed with their classic vibe. This long sleeve midi dress is such a great transitional piece too. With bare legs, it’s great for early fall, but as it gets cooler, you can start layering underneath without much work. I shared a whole post on my favorite ways to layer under dresses for cold weather. So now that this cute dress is out of the closet, expect to see me in it more and more!
How to Wear Booties with a Dress
But since we aren’t quite to layering weather yet, let’s talk about this early fall outfit. I’ve been obsessed with these Marc Fisher booties since I bought then two years ago. I recently had them resoled and shined up after a few too many days in drizzly Boston weather, so now they’re feeling brand new! I usually only wear them with jeans but one evening I got the idea to try out my beloved booties with this midi dress and I totally loved it.
For whatever reason I have this crazy association of dresses slowing me down in my day to day, but with my favorite, comfortable shoes, I was practically unstoppable. Needless to say I think I’ll be adopting the ankle boots and dress ensemble a bit more now!
