Living in LA can be very cliché. We all go to the beach every day. We know how to surf. We’re tan year round. And we definitely do juice cleanses on the regular. As it turns out, I don’t get to the beach as often as I’d like; I’ve been windsurfing on a lake in the mountains twice in my life; I’m tan the normal summer months; and I’ve never done a juice cleanse.
Though LA is full of tourists and tons of things for them to do, I find that I’m often skipping those activities to live my very normal life. Every once in awhile, however, soaking up some of that California sun in luxury is in order! Last week, my blogger friend Kelly of Tasting Page and I did our own little ‘staycation’ at The Ritz Carlton in Marina del Rey via DayAxe – a brand new service where you buy day access to luxury hotels. It was the best mini LA getaway with almost no travel time!
With DayAxe, you pay a reasonable fee for two people (ours was $25 each- you can get 20% off your first purchase with code: LUCIS) to use the amenities for the day. Kelly and I showed up around 10 and immediately headed for the gym. We put our belongings in the day spa lockers and hit the gym. With towels and bottles of water on each machine, it was certainly a great atmosphere to burn a few calories. I used the free weights and weight machines before doing some pilates on the yoga mats. Figuring we’d done our duty, we checked out the sauna and then headed out to the pool…
Ritz Carlton Marina Del Rey
Though a bit windy during our staycation, relaxing poolside in the sun along the marina was nothing short of amazing. The water felt nice and the palm trees were perfectly picturesque. Not surprisingly, we were hungry and ordered lunch poolside from the Wave Bar. They brought our salads and fries (my normal splurge-y M.O. midweek) right to us! We enjoyed our leisurely lunch al fresco and spent a little more time by the pool before heading home to get back to work!
DayAxe has hotels all across Southern California with new properties opening up – each with their own selling points! Prices range from $30-$50 for two people. Additional amenities and food are extra. You can get 20% off your first purchase with codes LUCIS through May 31, 2017.
